How to make an Asian gelatin Dessert. Use canned cherries, lychee, and coconut milk for a splendid Asian gelee. It’s the perfect exotic dessert after any Asian-inspired meal.
Three cans from the pantry and 2 packets of unflavored gelatin and you’ll have one exotic dessert. Each packet of gelatin with gel 2 cups of liquid. Strain the lychee and cherry (or other canned fruit in sweetened syrup) juices from the fruit. Melt the gelatin in 1/2 cup o f the juice in a mixing bowl. Bring the remaining juice to a boil. Pour the hot juice over the softened gelatin and stir until the gelatin has dissolved. Pour in the coconut milk and stir. Now stir in the reserved fruit and chill the big bowl. Or you can divide the fruit among small individual serving cups or molds and pour the gelatin over them. Chill until firm. Makes about 8 servings.
We simply spooned the silky dessert into bowls. It actually looked better than the photo suggests. Dim the lights.
